Although violinist Natalia Lomeiko was born in Russia and now lives in London, she still has strong connections with Christchurch where her family has lived for many years.

Natalia won the Michael Hill International Violin Competition in 2003, having earlier won the Premio Paganini International Violin Competition in Genoa.

During her early studies she was praised by none other than Yehudi Menuhin, who described her as “one of the most brilliant of our younger violinists”.

Upbeat caught up with Natalia Lomeiko ahead of a series of concerts with pianist Sarah Watkins in Christchurch, Wanaka and Auckland.
