Georgia Jamieson Emms is a busy woman. As well as being a singer, teacher, translator, diction and languages coach and former Lexus song quest semi-finalist, she’s also an opera librettist.
In 2013 she formed Wanderlust, an opera company which focuses on 'fun, affordable, accessible opera, performed in English with comfortable running times'.
Georgia spoke to Upbeat about the complexities of running an opera company, and the joys of translating opera libretti into English. She explained that while working with existing material is one thing, her new project with composer Kenneth Young is an exciting challenge: writing an entire opera libretto and story from scratch.
Georgia will soon be touring the one-woman show Love, Linda: The Life of Mrs Cole Porter in four North Island centres.
