Wellington Youth Orchestra goes for broke

From Upbeat, 5:02 pm on 29 September 2020

Wellington Youth Orchestra is ready to perform two concerts this Saturday and Sunday after months of not knowing if the day would ever come.

The young players have spent months rehearsing alone at home which has been extremely demanding - but recently were inspired to lift their game after a session working with NZSO guest conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya.

Manager Anne French and soloist Benedict van Leuven explain to Nick Tipping how hard it's been for the young players keeping morale up under lockdown.

Benedict is the winner of the WYO Concerto Competition for 2020, and will perform Weber's Clarinet Concerto No 2 at the concerts on 3rd and 4th October.
