Wellington Youth Orchestra Music Director Mark Carter says he had no idea that he was going to be appointed to the role late last year. The NZSO sub-principal trumpeter had conducted the orchestra a couple of times, and had always thought that the plan for the orchestra was to only have guest conductors.
“When Tom Gott asked me, I was pretty gobsmacked and overwhelmed, and I still am buzzing that I’m Musical Director of this fantastic orchestra” he says.
