The 2019 Circle100 Scholarships were awarded in Auckland last weekend.
The $20,000 major scholarship went to Tenor, Manase Latu while travel scholarships went to bass Samson Setu and tenor Harry Grigg.
The initiative to support promising young New Zealand singers has been active since 1996 when tenor Simon O’Neill was the first recipient.
Leading the judging panel this year was Sophie Joyce who is Director of the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program for the Metropolitan Opera.
Eva Radich spoke to Sophie Joyce about the quality of the singers she heard competing for the Circle 100 scholarship.
