The modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet, famed musical West Side Story opens at the Wellington Opera House tomorrow night.
Opera Australia is bringing a full cast, among the Jets and Sharks is two Kiwis – Blake Tuke and Jason Yang Westland.
The duo made the final cut from the 500 performers that auditioned for the show. They get to perform the original Jerome Robbins choreography, along with Bernstein's iconic score being brought to life by Orchestra Wellington.
Our resident musical thespian Zoë George sat down with the duo to talk sport - in Blake’s case rugby and sailing – rivalries and what their earliest memories of West Side Story are.
