Dene Olding is the Artistic Advisor of the Michael Hill competition, and is very well-known as one of the finest violinists working in Australasia.

Apart from his work as a soloist, for many years he was concertmaster of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, now concertmaster emeritus, and he’s the first violin of the prestigious Goldner String Quartet.

Richard Panting is the luthier for the Michael Hill Competition.

Richard started as a violinist himself, playing in the NZSO before taking up orchestral positions overseas.

But his love of instrument making took over. Now Richard’s highly in demand for his handcrafted instruments.
