It’s an international group, with early instrument players from Hungary, the Czech Republic, New Zealand and the USA.
The tour began yesterday in Timaru, and they’ll be playing in Greymouth tomorrow, then Nelson, Christchurch, Wanaka, Invercargill, Dunedin and Oamaru.
David Morriss caught up with with Tomas Hurnik, born in the Czech Republic, who as well as playing the baroque cello is Associate Principal Cello in the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra; and also USA-based oboe player Brandon Labadie – who’s played for many of the US’s most prestigious baroque ensembles.
