The NZ Festival tonight hosts a special collaboration, between the NZ String Quartet and Taonga Pūoro player Rob Thorne.
It includes pieces by Gareth Farr, Gillian Whitehead, and Salina Fisher, alongside improvisations and a brand new work by Rob Thorne himself.
Rob has been composer in residence at Te Kōki, the NZ School of music since July last year.
Kirsten Johnstone went there to hear a little of the rehearsals and have a korero about the kaupapa of the concert.
