In a world first, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra has created a professional ensemble with disabled musicians led by a disabled conductor; then we listen to a part of the score from The Shape of Water which won the Oscar for best original score yesterday.

1pm This is New Zealand

This is New Zealand is a new exhibition at City Gallery Wellington, exploring the role of art in asserting and questioning notions of national identity. The title is taken from the three-screen film created for Expo ’70 in Osaka; the exhibition includes three works displayed as part of New Zealand’s presence at the Venice Biennale over the years. Chief Curator Robert Leonard explains more.

1.45pm A Kiwi collaboration

New Zealand Festival tonight hosts a special collaboration, between the NZ String Quartet and Taonga Pūoro player Rob Thorne. It includes works by Gareth Farr, Gillian Whitehead, and Salina Fisher, alongside improvisations and a brand new work by Rob Thorne himself. Music 101’s Kirsten Johnstone explores more.
