Don Giovanni as a one man show

One of the more intriguing musical events in the Wellington Fringe Festival is Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni.

We usually hear this with a cast of eight principal singers, as well as a chorus representing peasants, servants, young ladies, musicians, and demons.

In this new production for the Fringe, it’s been condensed into just 50 minutes, and with just one singer.

But we’re assured it contains all the opera’s most memorable tunes, and provides an evening of lust, murder and revenge.

How could we resist? Upbeat checks in with this one-man Mozart opera powerhouse, Stuart Coates.
