2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Passchendaele. The battle, known as New Zealand’s ‘darkest day’, claimed the lives of 843 men and remains the highest one-day death toll suffered by New Zealand forces overseas. Lieutenant Colonel Darren Wolfendale, Principal Director of Music of the British Army has travelled to New Zealand to help commemorate the anniversary with a massed bands concert uniting ensembles from the Royal NZ Navy, The NZ Police, The Royal NZ Airforce and the Royal Regiment of the NZ Artillery.
