This week's "Sonic Moment of Calm" features a lovely little bit of warbling - we just don't know what bird is warbling it.

RNZ Concert's Bryan Crump put the question to listeners, whose responses were as many and as varied as the notes sung by said "mystery bird".

Some were convinced it was indeed the Gray Warbler, or Riroriro. Others plumped for the Silvereye, and quite a few were convinced they were listening to a Sparrow.

Crump himself wondered if it was a Goldfinch.

There are some easy to identify birdcalls in the background; the Pīpīwharauroa (Shining Cuckoo) and some Kaka, it's the one in the foreground that has us stumped.

If you think you can solve the mystery, have a listen to the track (it's quite nice whatever it is) and email your suggestion to threetoseven@rnz.co.nz
