Five Fabulous Classical Concert Videos

From Three to Seven, 10:00 am on 22 December 2025

RNZ Concert records and broadcasts many of the great classical music performances on offer across New Zealand each year. You can hear these on the radio during Music Alive and listen to many on our website by scrolling down here.

Occasionally our performance partners produce video to match our audio. Here are some of our recent favourites, with sound by RNZ Concert's award-winning music recording team, and video by Latitude Creative for the NZSO, and SOUNZ Centre for New Zealand Music.

Our thanks to our partners, and these amazing performers for allowing us to capture and share these beautiful concerts with you.

Vivaldi – The Four Seasons | NZSO ft. Pekka Kuusisto

The incomparable Pekka Kuusisto joined the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra to perform and direct Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, paired with Louise Farrenc’s Symphony No. 3.

Renowned for his energy, imagination, and playful approach, Kuusisto won over the local audience from the moment he walked on stage and brings new life to Vivaldi’s masterpiece in a concert celebrating brilliance, creativity, and connection.

Programme: Louise Farrenc – Symphony No. 3; Antonio Vivaldi – The Four Seasons

Vision Production: Latitude Creative; Audio Production: RNZ Concert. Live at Michael Fowler Centre, Wellington, 9 October 2025

'Daba' (Now) | NZSO ft. Fawzi Haimor & OUM

Moroccan singer OUM joined the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra for her work 'Daba' (Now), conducted by Fawzi Haimor and arranged by Tom McLeod. In 'Daba', OUM reflects on the importance of being present — of living in the moment and cherishing connection with those we love. Her evocative vocals blend traditional Middle Eastern ornamentation with rich orchestral textures, creating a sound that is deeply expressive and timeless.

This concert won a NYFestivals Radio Award for best live audio production.

Summer Nights | NZSO w. Joyce DiDonato, Conducted by Gemma New.

Mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato Summer Nights features two music masterpieces: French composer Hector Berlioz’s exquisite song cycle Les Nuits d'été and Austrian composer Anton Bruckner’s monumental Seventh Symphony.

The concert showcases DiDonato’s “24-carat gold” voice (The Times) and her unmatched artistry, praised by the New Yorker as “perhaps the most potent female singer of her generation.” Her performance of Berlioz’s The Death of Cleopatra with the London Philharmonic last year was praised by The Guardian “as a tour de force.”

“I expect my audience to be transformed by the end of the evening,” DiDonato has said about performing.

“I want them to have the experience of a lifetime and feel something deep and true that normal, everyday modern life doesn’t usually afford them. I want them to be utterly uplifted.”
