Grammy award-winning American mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato has been described as “perhaps the most potent female singer of her generation” by The New Yorker, with a voice “nothing less than 24-carat gold” according to The Times.
She’s in New Zealand later this week (it’s her first visit) to perform one of her favourite pieces with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra – Les Nuits d'été or ‘Summer Nights’ by Hector Berlioz.
She’ll also be taking masterclasses with young singers in Wellington and Auckland.
RNZ Concert’s Clarissa Dunn caught up with Joyce DiDonato ahead of her New Zealand tour.
