Handel's Messiah

Brian Kay says it's been his privilege to conduct this great work on many occasions and for him, as well as for so many, it never ceases to thrill, to inspire and to uplift in a way that no other oratorio quite does.

Handel was inspired by Charles Jennens' brilliant assembly of the text, from The Bible and the Book of Common Prayer. He set to work at once.  He locked himself away in his house in London's Brook Street, barely eating or sleeping for 28 days, during which time the entire full score of Messiah was completed, writing as Handel was, in the white heat of inspiration.
