A Celtic ceilidh for the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards

Our Picks from the nominees for BBC Folk Awards 2019 include Catrin Finch Seckou Keita. who have three nominations for best album, best band and musician of the year for  Seckou Keita 

 

Welsh language artist Gwilym Bowen Rhys is a nominee for Folk Singer of the Year.

 

Last year’s winner of the BBBC Radio 2 Musician of the Year Glasgow concertina player Mohsen Amini is once again a contender in the same category for his work with two traditional Scottish bands: Talisk and Ímar.

 

And Gianluigi Trovesi and Gianni Coscia have fun reinventing the music of Kurt Weill  for accordion and clarinets on their disc ‘Round About Weill’.
