The Kronos Quartet are known for their genre-busting releases of contemporary classical music, world music and the crossover landscape between.

Their latest release turns to traditional folk songs. For this, they are joined by singers Rhiannon Giddens, Olivia Chaney, Sam Amidon, and Natalie Merchant.

It's a very classy outing on all musical counts. And as a coming together of chamber music and folk music, it doesn't come any better than this. But William admits to a small reservation or two.
