Dan Auerbach is best known as guitarist/vocalist/songwriter of the Ohio blues-rock band The Black Keys. As well as being a Grammy Award-winning producer for Lana Del Rey and Dr John, he's also released two solo albums.

Not a particular fan of the Keys, William Dart finds a lot of delight in the latest solo album, Waiting On A Song.

"There's an almost pop innocence afoot, reminding me of all the virtues of songs that used to be happy to stay around the three-minute mark and deal out harmonies that wouldn't tax an amateur guitarist. But don't be fooled, the sophistication and ingenuity of the backdrops that this man concocts are absolutely staggering."

Waiting On A Song may have a title that seems to catch the anguish of many a minstrel, but in sound it's an album that very much reflects Auerbach's current personal contentment.
