The Kugels

The Kugels Photo: Atoll Records

The Kugels in Wellington and The Jews Brothers Band in Auckland ... two bands with klezmer connections. And both have released new CDs recently.

The Kugels' features original compositions by their accordionist Ross Harris (also a composer of 'classical' music - symphonies, string quartets, operas etc. He's quite a talented man.)

The Jews Brothers Band presents a bunch of toe-tappers under the title Up in the Borscht Belt after the song by vocalist Linn Lorkin, based on the experiences of pianist/accordionist Hershal Herscher in his grandparents' hotel in the Catskills.
