Ney Rosauro was born in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. Jazz elements and Brazilian motifs can be heard throughout the four movements of this piece, which contains strong rhythmic patterns and catchy melodies.

The marimba leads the thematic material throughout the piece exploring the many possibilities of modern four-mallet technique. It’s brilliantly written for the instrument’s unique timbre and virtuoso technical capabilities.

After moving to NZ from Japan in 2004, Yoshiko Tsuruta graduated from the New Zealand School of Music in Wellington in 2010. She completed her Masters degree in Austria, at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz.
