“Fascinated by English tunes”

Leveret

After playing Irish music as a youngster, fiddler and violist Sam Sweeney discovered English folk music through the English Acoustic Collective Summer School. Among the tutors there was English concertina player Rob Harbron. Years later the pair of them got together with melodeon player Andy Cutting to form the trio Leveret, which means “a young hare in its first year”.

In this week’s programme, we’re featuring their début album New Anything, recorded in the Welsh Brecon Beacons last August, in a single day.
