The Mongolian folk band Hanggai features in today’s programme as well as Samuri, who are a five-piece accordion ensemble from Europe.
Describing their style as ‘Chinagrass’, Hanggai perform their own adaptations of traditional songs from the Mongolian grasslands on an interesting mix of instruments – think electric guitars and electronica blended with traditional horse-hair fiddles! And there’s plenty of overtone singing, too.
