In Global Sounds this afternoon we’re featuring a Smithsonian Folkways release Old Man Below from The Dust Busters with John Cohen.

The Dust Busters are an American old-time string band who get their inspiration from listening to old 78s and field recordings of the old traditional masters. Following in the footsteps of the New Lost City Ramblers, their reverence for tradition runs deep while their interpretations bring fresh meaning and a sense that their music is as contemporary as any other.

On their album Old Man Below, The Dust Busters are joined by mentor and Ramblers founding member John Cohen in a collection of ballads, old-time songs and instrumentals (Smithsonian Folkways SFW40206)
