Vietnamese singer Huong Thanh is best known for her work with guitarist and compatriot Nguyên Lê, combining traditional Vietnamese traditional songs with jazz elements and other world styles. But the Paris-based singer’s most recent album, released earlier this year, focuses solely on traditional music. Tree of Dreams explores three types of Vietnamese folk song – lullabies, love songs and work songs – in the different musical styles of the northern, central and southern parts of the country (Ocora 2784138)
