Hildegard's music is what she is best known for today, yet it is only one aspect of her very full life. She became a powerful abbess whose advice was sought by popes, bishops, emperors and royalty. She was a preacher and the author of three extensive theological texts as well as two scientific works.

In this programme, Rebecca Blundell explores Hildegard's fascinating life, which we know about only because so many of her works survived.
