Violet Gordon Woodhouse (1872-1948) was a British harpsichordist and clavichordist, the first ever to make a harpsichord recording. In this programme, produced in 1998, John Mansfield Thomson looks at the colourful, sometimes scandalous life and the musical artistry of a remarkable woman.

All the music recordings in this programme are taken from Great Virtuosi of the Harpsichord Vol III: Violet Gordon Woodhouse, released on the Pearl label.
