Beyond Guilt: Nga Aureretanga O Parihaka

On 5 November 1881 a government force of 1600 led by Native Minister John Bryce invaded the western Taranaki settlement of Parihaka, which had come to symbolise peaceful resistance to the confiscation of Maori land.
