Sharon Lam was born in Hong Kong and raised in Tokyo, Singapore, Christchurch and London. She is currently based in Wellington, where she first moved to in 2012 to study architecture. Her interest in writing began during university as a feature writer and columnist for Salient. Her work often focuses on the anxieties of everyday life - or hovers slightly above it. In 2017 she began writing the great kiwi-Chinese-baby theft novel, which ‘Potluck’ is adapted from. Other than finishing the novel she has been writing freelance for places such as ArchitectureNow and Hainamana, reading at the NZ Writers and Readers Festival, and trying to find a job.
