What I cover: I cover breaking and developing stories in and around the Auckland region. I’m often sent to big news nationally and internationally and helped cover Cyclone Gabrielle, the Christchurch mosque shootings and the city’s earthquakes. I also helped cover the 100 year commemorations at Gallipoli and then followed the Prime Minister on a trade push through some of the Gulf states. Our job means talking to people at their best of times but also at their worst, and I try to tell their stories with care and sensitivity.
My background: I’m on another tour of RNZ after spending a number of years at TVNZ where I was a reporter also in the Auckland newsroom. Before that I spent time as a news director at Newstalk ZB, an Auckland reporter and producer for Prime News and Sky News Australia, and I worked at RadioLIVE and its predecessors Global News and Radio Pacific. I’m a winner of Best News Coverage at the Radio Awards for my stories on the deadly Princess Ashika ferry sinking in Tonga.
