What I cover: I cover rural news in detail, with an interest in migrant communities, young people in farming and on-farm conservation.
My background: I was born in Masterton to Fijian-Indian migrants, so grew up surrounded by storytellers; my grandmother, reminiscing her childhood while cutting okra; the pastor, cracking up the table at an after-church dinner; and other rural kids who got good at passing the time in our small town.
After completing a Bachelor of Communications at the University of Canterbury in 2024, I worked at regional newspaper the Ashburton Guardian. Now, I’m at RNZ, telling stories about the people who make up our primary sector.
