Police have found a body in Lake Rotorua and are working to formally identify the person.
In a statement, police said a member of the public notified Rotorua police at about 2.45pm this afternoon after they saw "something of concern" in the water
Police have now recovered a body from the lake and a formal identification process is now taking place.
A police spokesperson said further details would be released as they become available.
It is not yet known if it is a french tourist who went missing while kayaking over a week ago.
