A large pink diamond has been unearthed in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

The 12.76-carat diamond has been named the Argyle Pink Jubilee.

The ABC reports diamond will be cut and polished in Perth and will then travel the world, including New York and Hong Kong, before being sold later this year.

Argyle Diamonds says the auction house Christie's has sold only 18 pink diamonds heavier than 10 carats in the past 244 years.

The Argyle mine was opened 26 years ago.
