The grand-nephew of President John F Kennedy and grandson of Senator Robert Kennedy has launched his campaign for a seat in the United States Congress.
Joseph Kennedy III, 31, is seeking to represent the fourth district of Massachusetts for the Democratic Party in the House of Representatives.
He released a video announcement on his campaign website, then spent Thursday morning greeting commuters in Newton, where he aims to succeed the retiring member.
Kennedy is an assistant district attorney in Middlesex county. He speaks Spanish fluently, graduated from Stanford University and Harvard Law School, and served in the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic.
