US Post closures delayed

8:23 am on 15 January 2012

The United States Postal Service has decided to delay the closure of thousands of post offices around the nation as it tries to find ways to stave off bankruptcy.

It is considering cutting 120,000 jobs and shutting more than 3,500 post offices. However, a decision has been put off until later this year.

The ABC reports it's a brief reprieve for many small towns.

Meanwhile, Evan Kalish, 25, a graduate student, is trying to visit as many as possible before they disappear.

So far he has collected post marks at more than 2700 post offices across the United States.
