Painter sneaked own work into academy

An unknown arts student in Poland has surreptitiously hung one of his own works at the Fine Arts Academy in the city of Wroclaw.

It took three days for gallery employees to notice the painting, an acacia leaf by Andrzej Sobiepan.

He had waited for an employee to fall asleep before hanging the painting.

Sobiepan hopes the stunt will encourage gallery owners to give more exhibition space to young unknown artists.

The BBC reports the painting is to be hung in the academy officially and auctioned for charity.
