One of the world's major food companies says it is taking new steps to stop children working in the cocoa industry.
Nestle has invited the Fair Labour Association to examine its supply chain in Ivory Coast, the world's largest cocoa exporter.
Ten years ago, the world's biggest chocolate manufacturers including Nestle promised to end child labour, but since then little has changed, the BBC reports.
Now Nestle is going it alone, engaging the Fair Labour Association, which already works with Adidas and Nike, to examine its supply chains from start to finish.
Nestle executives admit they know children are working in their Ivory Coast suppliers, but have promised to make all findings public and to act wherever they do find child labour.
