18 killed by bombs

Twin bombs in Iraq killed 18 people in the capital, Baghdad, on Thursday.

The first blast occurred in Ur, a mainly Shia district. The second went off as casualties were being evacuated.

At least 36 people are said to have been injured.

The BBC reports there has been a resurgence in bombings in Baghdad in recent weeks.

A series of car and roadside attacks killed at least 28 people on 12 October.
