A Rembrandt drawing, valued at $US250,000, has been stolen from a hotel in southern California.
The Judgement was taken from an exhibition at the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's office said it was stolen between 10.20pm and 10.35pm on Saturday when a curator was distracted by a guest. Police are studying surveillance video from the hotel.
The quill pen and black ink drawing, which dates back to about 1655, was part of an exhibition at the hotel staged by The Linearis Institute, a San Francisco gallery.
The work measures approximately 28cm x 15cm and was signed on the back by the artist.
The Los Angeles Times reported it was on display in the hotel lobby in an attempt to attract a buyer.
