An American white supremacist who shot dead two Asian shop workers in what he considered a patriotic response to the 9/11 attacks in 2001 has been executed in Texas.
Mark Stroman exhausted all legal options for avoiding execution by lethal injection.
He targeted people he believed to be of Middle Eastern descent in the weeks after the attacks, but his victims were actually from South Asia.
A third, who survived being shot in the face, campaigned unsuccessfully to save his life.
Rais Bhuiyan, a Muslim who emigrated to Dallas from Bangladesh, said Stroman deserved another chance. The shooting left Mr Bhuiyan partially blinded.
