Leading figures in Formula One motor-racing have condemned a decision to go ahead with the Bahrain Grand Prix later this year.
The event was called off in February at the height of the pro-democracy protests, in which at least 30 people were killed and hundreds more detained.
The race was originally due to be held on 13 March. It will now be held on 30 October.
The FIA said that the decision on Friday was unanimous.
Former Formula One world champion Damon Hill says he believed it is all about the millions of dollars that would have been lost and in his view the race should not go ahead.
Red Bull driver Mark Webber is uncertain that the event will take place.
''Even though a decision has been made, I'll be highly surprised if the Bahrain Grand Prix goes ahead this year,'' he said.
''As a competitor I do not feel at all comfortable going there to compete in an event when, despite reassurances to the contrary, it seems inevitable that it will cause more tension for the people of that country.''
The Formula One Teams Association said on Friday that it was assessing the situation.
