Tens of thousands of families in Cuba are relying on truck deliveries for their water as the country suffers its worst drought in half a century.
State media says the situation is made worse by the poor condition of the water supply system.
The BBC cites Granma newspaper as saying up to 70% of water pipes supplying the capital Havana are leaking and in urgent need of repair.
The drought began two years ago and reservoir supplies are at a fifth of their normal levels.
It is hoped the rainy season in May and June will bring some respite but it will take more than a normal rainy season to fill up the reservoirs.
