Fighting is continuing in Somalia between government forces and Al-Shabaab insurgents in the capital Mogadishu and two other towns.
The Somali government says its troops, backed by an African Union force, are now in control of a strategic road at the heart of Mogadishu.
African Union soldiers have been using heavy artillery to support troops.
Forty civilians are reported to have been killed this week in Mogadishu as well as six of the peacekeepers.
