A magnitude 5.6 earthquake has occurred in central Chile.
The US Geological Survey initially said the magnitude was 5.8. The epicenter of the quake was 92km south-southwest of the city of Concepcion at a depth of 13.7km.
The state emergency office Onemi said there were no signs of damage.
In February 2010, central Chile was hit by a magnitude 8.8 quake. It and ensuing tsunamis caused widespread damage.
