Kim Clijsters of Belgium is the new Australian Open tennis champion, beating Li Na of China in the final in Melbourne.
Clijsters lost the first set, but came back when Li, 29, imploded under pressure in the second set. She the match to a third set, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
It was Clijsters' fourth major title, the third since her return from retirement in 2009. All her other titles are for the US Open.
She has already said 2011 would be her final full year on tour.
"Now I feel you guys can call me 'Aussie Kim'," Clijsters, 29, said.
"To the fans, thank you so much, not just here in Melbourne.
"I've been coming to Australia for many years and you guys have been amazing."
She thanked everyone from the ball boys to a dentist who performed an emergency repair job on a cracked tooth before the start of the tournament.
