More thunderstorms in south-east Queensland

There have been severe thunderstorms for a second night in south-east Queensland.

The Bureau of Meteorology says the system started over the Lockyer Valley and moved north through Brisbane, bringing around 70mm of rain in an hour.

The ABC reports power was cut to 30,000 properties.

Energex says many of the affected areas only recently had power restored after last week's floods.

Brisbane City Council has warned bad weather, combined with a king tide this weekend, could cause flooding in areas not affected last week.

Lord Mayor Campbell Newman says water is likely to reach similar levels seen in some suburban creeks prior to Christmas.
