Cases heard for 2022 World Cup

6:11 am on 2 December 2010

The five countries lobbying to host the 2022 World Cup made their final presentations their final appeal to FIFA's executive committee on Wednesday.

Australia, South Korea, Qatar, the United States and Japan each had 30 minutes before the committee in Zurich.

Australia's chances of winning have been hurt by a report commissioned by FIFA showing Australia is the least profitable bidder.

The host for the tournament will be decided by FIFA on Thursday.

FIFA will also decide the host of the 2018 World Cup on Thursday.

The contenders are Russia and England against joint bids by Spain and Portugal and the Netherlands and Belgium.
