Merkel's staff intercept parcel bomb

A parcel bomb has been intercepted by staff at the Berlin offices of the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel.

Post room employees raised the alarm over the package, which experts later confirmed was an explosive device.

In Athens, bombs exploded at the Swiss and Russian embassies and police found suspect packages at the Chilean and Bulgarian embassies.

No injuries have been reported.

On Monday, a booby-trapped parcel exploded at a courier office in Athens and three others - adressed to embassies and the French President - were intercepted.

Police have linked the attacks to Greek leftist guerrillas.
