Bomb threat detected in Sweden

9:57 am on 31 October 2010

Police in Sweden have arrested several people in connection with a bomb threat directed against the second largest city there, Gothenburg.

Those detained are suspected of preparing what police term a terrorist crime.

Police earlier said they had received information from a credible source that a bomb attack was planned.

However, the BBC reports Sweden's terrorism alert level is not being raised as a result. It was increased earlier this month in line with several other European countries.
