Buckingham Palace says the Queen has cancelled a Christmas party for staff this year because of the tough economic climate.
The Sun newspaper has reported that the party for about 1200 guests had been scheduled for 13 December.
A palace spokesperson says that given the economic climate, it was thought appropriate to show restraint.
